Planning to wander

It’s always been part of my life to dream, research and plan all kinds of trips. It didn’t always mean that I would actually go on the trip. But it has certainly filled my free time with joy. The curiosity about different cultures and areas of the world just always overcame me when I would hear of places like Samarkand, Malawi or Chrystal Lake. I have never been to these places, I might go there some day, but this is not the point. I just enjoy learning about these places and come up with an itinerary that might actually work.

In the end this kind of travel planning and itinerary planning seems to makes sense. Research seems to prove that people actually get the most fun out of their vacation during the planning phase.

Travel planning has really changed for me in the last 5 years. That’s when our first child entered my and my husband’s life. Now we have two little boys under 5. We still travel, but in a different way than we used to. It’s still fun to travel plan, especially to dream of what will be possible at the different stages of our children’s lives. Traveling with a baby, toddler or preschooler is already so different from each other.
